The Antidote I Wrote
The IRA's strategist
Is probably no monarchistMore likely a fatalist
Who's never been kissed
And wouldn't be missed
Ifhe died.
Am I a pessimist?
The Palo Alto activist
Is a cultural exorcist
Who will later insist
On becoming a novelist
And seeing an analyst
Who won't chide.
Am I a moralist?
The communist pianist,
An excellent soloist,
Has been dismissed
By the New York columnist
Who is his publicist
On the side.
Must I persist?
How can you assist?
Try to be an optimist
Without being an egoist.
Consult a hypnotist,
Or merely live to exist
For the sanctified oceanside.
Above all, don't resist the humorist.
